Class trip to Finland – Erasmus group mobility – class 6b – Feb 18 to 25, 2026

18th Feb 

Amazing view from the plane! Sightseeing and burgers at night. It’s quite cold but we are enjoying it. 

19th Feb 

Welcome to the embassy! It’s freezing cold so we warm up at the Old Market. City Museum in the afternoon and exploring Oodi library in the evening. Let’s finish off with pizza. 

20th Feb 

Icy and breathtaking views on the island of Suomenlinna. Exploring the culture and having snowball fights in the snow. Visiting and exploring the Design museum of Helsinki with a cozy exhibition about Moomins. 

Let’s head off to Rovaniemi 

21st Feb 

Waking up on a noisy train next to a crying baby that kept us up all night. 
Outside, it’s cold and snowy as we walk to the Arktikum, where we enjoy the interesting exhibitions. We enjoy the food in the cafeteria and then make our way to the huts, where we rest for the remainder of the evening. (Vicky) 

22nd Feb 

Our day began with an exciting husky sledge ride as the dogs pulled us through the snowy landscapt. After that we visited the magical Santa Claus Village and stepped into a real winter wonderland. To end a perfect day we watched the northern lights dancing across the sky from the top of a mountain 

23rd Feb 

After a quick breakfast we left the huts and took the bus to attend a presentation where we gained new insights into Finland and its culture. 
We spent the remainder of the evening exploring a few remarkable spots and doing some shopping. At 6 p.m., we boarded the night train and settled in for a restful sleep, as we have to rise at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning. (Elinor) 

24th February 

Started the day very early at half past six waking up in the night train. We were very tired but after a quick coffee we made our way to the Medialuiko school. A stop motion class followed by a tour of the school building, lunch at the cafeteria and then a German class. It was great fun and the Finnish students were very friendly. 

25th February – the final day of our trip 

Wow-what a week! Personally, the best week I’ve ever had since the summer holidays. Our last day started lazy, which was quite unusual, because our previous 6 days had been stressful. So, let’s get back to our final day. We started at a coffee named „BÄR BAR´´ which I can highly recommend, because you can choose between a variety of Juice-bowls and drinks.  

I’m always saying that the last day is the most unique one, because of the orientation you have after one week in this frosty city. So, after our breakfast we had some time for shopping, and sightseeing. I checked out some stores, and we bought something to eat for our flight back home.  

To let the day wind down we visited a museum„ AMOS Rex´´ which was one of my personal highlights and in fact one of the most unmatched museums I’ve ever seen. The artist presented a world of the third dimension which was awesome and the special thing about it was, that you could be a part of the different interactions. It wasn’t just the exhibition of„ Leandro Erlich ´´ which fascinated me greatly, rather it even was the architecture, which was amazing.  

After all that we got back to the hotel to pick up our baggage and then the bus took us to the airport. That was really amusing because you could take a little nap and then get off at the terminal.  

For myself I really enjoyed our week in one of the most Nordic countries in the world.
